One of the temples is Dashabhuja Ganpati temple situated on Paud Phata, in kothrud. The temple was built in the reign of the Peshwas.
What does Dashabhuja mean?
Dahsa in sanskrit means 10 in English whereas Bhuja in Sanskrit means arms. The idol in the temple has 10 arms and hence the name ‘Dashabhuja’.
What’s unique about the idol?
This idol is said to be discovered while digging a well in a private plot in Laxminagar near Parvati.
The idol faces south in direction which is rare and the trunk turns right instead of left is considered auspicious.
