A beautiful example of Gothic architecture
Deccan College is celebrating its bicentenary this year. The Deccan College building is a beautiful example of Gothic architecture. This building has been constructed with the donation of Rs. 1 lakh from Sir Jameshetji Jijobhai. It is however amusing that the total cost of its construction was Rs. 1 lakh at that time but at present, the building is rented for films and various web series at the rate of Rs 1.5 lakh per day.
The Sanskrit encyclopedia is being constructed in the premises of this building. The Department of Linguistics is studying 52 rare and extinct dialects. The Department of Archeology continues to study anthropology and culture through the materials they use from human skeletons found in excavations.
