Market Yard, Tal. 4: Every year during Diwali, there should be no sealing of goods by taking samples from the oil shops. Shivajirao Desai, Joint Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, assured that he would meet the office bearers of the chamber again to discuss the oppressive provisions of Section 14 of the Food and Drug Administration and try to resolve the issue.
Shivajirao Desai, Joint Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, Sangat, Thakur and Kakade paid a courtesy call on The Poona Merchants Chamber. A meeting was held between the office bearers of the chamber and the Food and Drug Administration officials. Chamber President Popatlal Ostwal raised various issues. It involves taking samples of goods from oil shops during Diwali and sealing them every year. Millions of rupees worth of goods are invested in it. There are oppressive provisions in Section 14 of the Food and Drug Administration. The government should take immediate decision in this regard. Various issues were raised with this.
The meeting was attended by a large number of oil traders from the market yard. Also present were Vice President Ashok Lodha, Secretary Vijay Mutha, Joint Secretary Anil Lunkad, Former President Pravin Chorbele, Walchand Sancheti, Rajendra Bathia, Executive Members Kanhaiyalal Gujarathi, Raikumar Nahar, Ajit Bora, Anand Agarwal, Subhash Palre. Vice President of the Chamber Ashok Lodha welcomed the gathering. Shivajirao Desai and other officers were felicitated by Popatlal Ostwal.
