Visapur as it was earlier known, the now Shukrawar Peth was the largest Peth in the city. Jivaji Pant Khasagiwale built this peth in the year 1734 under the rule of Shrimant Balajirao Peshwa. The famous market ‘Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandai’ shortly known as ‘Mandai’  is house to this area which was built in 1885. Next to it is the big market of ‘Tulsi Baugh’ where you can find all types of goods, right from clothes, footwear to kitchenware. The ancient ‘Ram Mandir’ is located in this area.
