Confusion among Gram Panchayat or Municipal villagers
The Sarpanchpada reservation draw has sounded the trumpet of the expired Gram Panchayat elections in the district. This includes villages on the threshold of municipal entrance, and reservations for the post of Sarpanch have been announced. However, confusion has arisen among the villagers as to whether these villages will be included in the municipal corporation before the elections or will have to face the elections.
According to the recent Sarpanch post, Manjari Budruk village in East Haveli is for backward class women, Shewalewadi, Vadachiwadi and Pisoli are for general women, Wagholi and Holkarwadi are for general group and Autadewadi-Handewadi is for backward class.
Movements have been started by the state government in the last few months with a view to include these villages in the municipality. On the other hand, the Election Commission has recently announced reservations for Sarpanch posts in these villages along with other villages in the district. In some of these villages, the trumpet of the five-yearly election has now sounded. Therefore, a dilemma has arisen among the villagers, aspiring candidates and villagers as to whether to start the election celebrations or wait for the municipal admission.
